Education:He graduated from Shanghai First Medical College (now Fudan University Medical College) in 1958 and was assigned to the Department of Ophthalmology of Ruijin Hospital in the same year. He studied for a postgraduate in ophthalmology at Shanghai Second Medical University from 1963 to 1966 and studied with Professor Nie Chuanxian, an older generation of ophthalmologists in China. Clinical experience:He was transferred from the Department of Ophthalmology of Ruijin Hospital to the Ninth People's Hospital in 1973. Specialty:Diagnosis and treatment of middle-aged and elderly eyelid slack, removal of eye pouches, ptosis of upper eyelid, implantation of movable prosthetic eye socket and other general plastic surgery, eye deformity caused by accidents such as traffic accidents, tumor removal.

In combination with clinical practice, Professor Xu has edited "Practical Ophthalmic Surgery", "Eye Plastic Surgery Techniques", "Practical Eye Plastic Surgery and Aesthetic Surgery" , etc.; he has edited the American "practice and principles of ophthalmic plastic and reconstructive surgery ", and published dozens of papers.
